Once a Cabinet Maker…

01.11.2011

European craftsmanship. Tradition of quality. Old world pride.

Those are certainly words you want to hear when selecting the company that will design and construct your custom kitchen, bathroom or closets. And, of course, you want to be sure there is substance behind the words.

The Neff name is one that carries with it an assurance of uncompromising quality and unparalleled attention to detail, tradition and customer satisfaction.

Roots in the Old World

It began more than 40 years ago when a young German craftsman, Paul Neff, migrated to Canada in 1966, determined to bring chic European design and quality to the new world.

Paul quickly became a leader in innovation and avant-garde design as he applied technologies from the aerospace andNeff of Chicago Custom Luxury Cabinetry automotive industries to the development of cabinetry. The company mastered the cabinetmaker’s art of curved wood doors, employed laminate patterns that can’t be distinguished from real wood veneers, and achieved a high gloss finish on its products that not many match today. Fewer than 20% of cabinet manufacturers use acrylic polyurethane, a premium finish that is less prone to drying and cracking and has significantly less VOC emissions than the more prevalent lacquer finish.

When Paul Neff retired in 2004, he sold the business to cabinet-maker Miro Nowak, who has expanded the tradition of innovation and quality, creating the Louis Philippe Collection of traditional cabinetry, and the Valet Closet Collection.

It’s the marriage of state-of-the-art manufacturing processes and precision handcrafting that enables Neff to continue achieving the high standards set by the founders. The meticulous finishing process is a case in point – grain matching, sanding, specially lit quality inspections, air drying, hand rubbing.

A Chicago Design Leader

Neff of Chicago owners Pat Borg and Nancy Olive and their “Design to Delight” team have more than 70 years combined experience creating elegant, custom solutions for clients. Their mission is simple: “To make you fall in love with your home every time you walk in the door!”

it was made out of inexpensive melariats — chemistry-lab countertops, plexiglass panels, medium-density fiberboard for the cabinets . They also mention that it was Eric who pushed for the Murphy bed & quote Chen saying, It took a lot to figure out the mechanics. We used hardware parts from four different companies. We had to have every part fabricated.'
