Jazz-inspired tile hits a high note in Dream Home kitchen

10.01.2010

When Neff of Chicago created the kitchen in the 2010 DreamHome, the designer envisioned a “welcoming, entertaining space for friends.”

And what more fitting finish for such a setting than a glass tile backsplash in a shade called Bourbon Street Caramel?

Bourbon Street is one of five styles in the new Treble line of Jazz Glass from luxury tile maker Artistic Tile. Other variations on the Treble theme are Coltrane Cream, Mingus Grey, Fats Brown and Dizzy Plum.

Treble, Artistic tells us, was “inspired by Jazz musicians, who passionately blend and shape notes of music” just as  each piece of domestic Tiffany-like glass in this mosaic pattern is ”hand-made and lovingly shaped by a skilled craftsman.”

Bourbon Street Carmel looks right at home in the Neff of Chicago kitchen in the 2010 Dream Home.

The result is a “unique blending of rich colors with variations of shading and textures” – much like the music created by the jazz greats. And this versatile, elegant tile is equally at home in the bathroom, powder room, cabana or restaurant setting.

For more than 20 years, Artistic Tile has produced some of the finest in glass, ceramic, stone and porcelain tile for residential and commercial applications. Find out about more about some of their key projects at http://artistictile.com/notable_proj.shtml

Elegance and accessibility are cornerstones of the Artistic Tile philosophy. When the company was launched in 1987, luxury tile was a fledgling industry.  There were  virtually no showrooms consumers could visit unless they were accompanied by a professional designer. Artistic Tile founder Nancy Epstein quickly identified an opportunity to reach a broader audience with her luxury message. She  introduced a winning merchandising concept that’s become the standard– lifestyle vignettes that put products in real room settings. “People were obviously more inspired by the large display; they could really visualize the tile in their own environment,” Epstein explains.

The 2010 Dream Home is the sixth design house presented by the Design Center at the Merchandise Mart. In addition to the Neff of Chicago kitchen, the home includes nine additional fully designed and furnished rooms: a welcome lobby, foyer, home office, living room, bedroom, bathroom, dining room, sitting room and outdoor area.  You can visit  the Dream Home through December 10. The display is open Monday through Friday, 10 am to 5 pm, and Saturday,10 am to 3 pm.
