Are You Ready For Your Install?

11.09.2010

You have arrived at the final step of the remodel process – installation of a brand new luxury kitchen or bathroom. Just a few more days and you’ll be enjoying the result…entertaining friends in your dream kitchen or luxuriating in a 11 8.pnggorgeous new bathroom.

The install, of course, is a critical step. What should you expect and what can you do to help make this final phase of remodeling smooth and seamless?

Before installation

Be prepared for it to take three to five working days for cabinet installation, and an additional two to three weeks for measurement, shaping and placement of countertops.

Use an experienced installer. Neff of Chicago recommends that you contract with a Neff-trained installer for its cabinetry.

Make sure walls and floors in the newly remodeled room(s) are clean.

Are appliances/ fixtures in, and plumbing, gas or electrical connections ready?

Do you have all the extras such as glass for doors, cabinet knobs and handles?

When cabinets arrive

Verify the order with the installer as he unpacks it. In the unlikely event that the order is not complete or not entirely correct, the installer should work with the design firm to contact the manufacturer and make it right ASAP.

Install process

The installer follows engineering drawings to build and attach cabinets to the walls, then hang and level doors and cabinets, wire the lighting system, display cabinets, and optional integrated electrical outlets, and install glass in doors.

Appliances are attached to prepared or existing plumbing, gas and electrical connections.

Cabinet features and moldings are attached. Accessories, backsplashes, sinks and range hoods are installed; toe kicks attached.

And, of course, the installer removes job-related garbage and packaging.

Bring in the Countertops

The countertop fabricator can now take measurements and shape the slabs for kitchen counters, bathroom vanity or closet islands.

If you have installed Neff cabinets, you can use them in your new kitchen while countertops are being completed because Neff permanently finishes the top of each cabinet with the wood substrate. That adds stability and keeps your dishes and silverware cleaner.

Follow-up

Your designer should conduct a post-installation visit. Neff of Chicago will come by to see the new remodel, talk to the client about their experience, and take photos, if permitted.

Final Step Post-Installation

Relax and enjoy!
